Weekend picks: May 24-26

This Saturday, from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. is the annual hot glass festival in Staunton at Sunspots Studios Glassblowing. Glass artists from around the region are coming together for non-stop hot glass demonstrations and exhibits. You can watch the artists' techniques as they make things including life-like animals, vases and jewelry. The event is free, indoors, and fun for all ages. If you're not into arts and crafts, maybe craft beers are more your style? Saturday from 12 - 7 p.m. is the ValleyFest Beer and Wine Festival at Massanutten Resort. Of course you can enjoy a wide variety of wine and beer, but also live music, food, and shopping. Tickets are available online. You can find more information about this event here

This Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day, you can head out to Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton for the 53rd annual Art in the Park Festival. Enjoy arts and crafts, music, food, and kids' art activities. It's a free event that will be fun for the whole family. You can find more information about this event here

This weekend's spotlight is the 22nd annual Memorial Day Festival and Parade in the town of Shenandoah. There will be a memorial service for veterans, a car show, an antique tractor show, motorcycle show, a patriotic parade, and a volunteer firemen's food shack. This year, the event is in honor of Dave Hinkle, the town councilman who passed away in February. You can find more information about this event here.
