Valley wildlife center helping bear hit by car

A little bear cub has stirred a lot of interest in our area since Friday when she was brought to the Wildlife Center of Virginia after being hit by a car.
The Wildlife Center says phones have been ringing off the hook with phone calls from people asking about the cub. They tell WHSV she is still not doing well, but they are working to stabilize her breathing and eating.
The cub had to have surgery to install screws in her broken jaw and is struggling with internal bleeding. Right now, she is being kept sedated while veterinarians give her oxygen and feed her through a tube.
"I'd say this is probably one of the more critically injured bears we've received. We do also have seven cubs right now that are all healthy cubs or mostly healthy cubs that came in with only minor injuries," explained Director of Outreach, Amanda Nicholson.
Once this cub recovers, she will join those other cubs. If you would like to keep track of her progress, the Wildlife Center of Virginia asks you check their website rather than calling. You can also watch on their critter cam.
