Halloween Cake


  • 1 orange flavored cake mix
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 small package instant butterscotch pudding
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • chocolate frosting
  • vanilla frosting
  • black icing
  • 2 sugar cubes
  • Lemon or orange extract
  • 2 empty egg shells (washed)

  • Directions

    1. Combine the first 5 ingredients in a mixing bowl and beat on medium speed for three minutes. Pour mixture into a greased 9X13" cake pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes until a pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool.

    2. On a piece of 9X13" paper (a shopping bag, old wrapping paper, etc.) draw a ghost with a rounded top and ruffled hem. Cut this out and place on the top of the cake. Sprinkle powdered sugar around the outside of the paper pattern.

    3. Remove the paper and frost all the powdered sugar area and the sides of cake with chocolate frosting. Frost the "ghost" with white frosting. With black icing, make a large 0 for the mouth and make mrkings all around the ghost and especially at the hem of the ghost to look like ruffles.

    4. Place a sugar cube in each eggshell and place on cake for eyes. Just before serving, soak sugar cubes with lemon or orange extract. Then ignite with a match-turn the lights out when you serve this spooky treat!
