BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- The Broadway High School baseball team defeated Turner Ashby, 7-2, Tuesday night to take over sole possession of first place in the Valley District.

Broadway starting pitcher Wyatt Emswiler delivered a gem on the mound, allowing just two runs over six and two-thirds innings. The Gobblers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings thanks to an RBI infield single Bryce Turner and a two-RBI double by Bryce Suters. Broadway would add to its lead by taking advantage of multiple TA errors later in the game.

The Gobblers (11-1 overall) are now alone atop the district standings with a 4-1 league record. Turner Ashby falls to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in district play.
