WOODSTOCK, Va. (WHSV) — A key part of Central High School football's run to the Region 2B final, Kyle Clanton, is this week's Burger King Student Athlete of the Week.
Clanton was a star on the field for the Falcons, scoring touchdowns several different ways throughout the season.
"He runs punts back, kicks back, we put him in the backfield, we put him at wide receiver, he's got a couple pick sixes on defense," Head Coach Mike Yew said.
"Just one of those sports that I loved," Clanton said, "and I guess I was blessed with the talent to play it."
His coaches, teachers and peers are excited for his future.
"It's pretty exciting, pretty impressive, knowing how humble he is," said Sherry Heishman, one of his teachers. "But the team work that he puts in, it's not a flare, it's not about him it's all about what's gonna happen in the end."
Clanton has received an offer from California University in Pennsylvania to play football, and he plans on playing basketball this winter and running track in the spring before he graduates.
