STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) — Robert E. Lee High School senior Oliver Wilson-Cook spends a lot of his time running. This Friday, he will compete in the Virginia high school State Championships.
"I've driven to Staunton late at night and I've seen Oliver out running," Wilson-Cook's junior year English teacher Brian Shutt said. "I've driven early in the morning, five o'clock in the morning and I've seen Oliver out running."
"If we had to cancel practice because of a storm or inclement weather, I'll be driving home and there's still Oliver running anyways," Lee High cross country head coach Dave Marino said.
Wilson-Cook is hoping to win states on Friday. He plans on running in college, and is still figuring out where he will attend. He hopes to pursue a career in business marketing.
