HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- A graduate of Central High School, Kenny Lambiotte played two seasons of basketball at UVA before transferring to William & Mary to play football. On Friday, he spoke to WHSV about the Hoos in the Final Four.
"The key to that team was the teamwork," Lambiotte told WHSV over the phone Friday. "I think similar this year, there are players that have NBA potential, but they don't compare to some of the ones that are going to be lottery picks and so on and so their results are coming from the teamwork and supporting one another and I think that is good to see."
Lambiotte was on the team in the 1983-84 season that made the Final Four. He transferred midway through the year and did not play in the tournament, but enjoyed watching them from afar.
Lambiotte tells WHSV that he's enjoyed seeing Tony Bennett build the program back up and hopes to see the Hoos take the title this weekend.
