HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The James Madison football team's offensive line has had a strong performance during spring practice.
The unit is expected to be a strength for the Dukes in 2019 with all five starters from 2018 returning. However, a few key contributors are sitting out spring practice which is allowing younger players to step in and fill the void.
"I have been pleased," said JMU head coach Curt Cignetti. "I think they have made really good progress. I think we have a chance to be really, really good up front."
"We'll plug in some of the injured guys obviously in the fall but I have been pleased."
Among those players who have impressed during spring ball is redshirt freshman Nick Kidwell, who recently made the move from right tackle to left tackle.
"We're coming together now," said Kidwell. "We are starting to get more cohesion with each other. We're making some of our calls now. We're getting there."
JMU continues spring practice Saturday afternoon. The Spring Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m.
