HARRISONBURG, Va. (JMU Athletics) -- James Madison baseball (28-19, 9-9 CAA) completed the weekend sweep of the Towson Tiger (12-34, 6-12 CAA) with an extra innings walk off win Sunday. The Dukes defeated the Tigers 6-5 to secure their first winning season since 2011. Nick Robertson picked up the victory Sunday to improve to 4-1 on the season.
The Dukes opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first, when Matt Dipasupil singled through the right side to score Fox Semones from third. Kyle Hayes would add to the lead, grounding out to third as Kyle Novak scampered home. Callaway Sigler would add two RBIs of his own later in the inning, singling up the middle to extend the Dukes lead to 4-0.
The Tigers would begin to chip away in the second, scoring on a solo blast by Brad Powers, before the Dukes would answer in the bottom half with a Brady Harju RBI single. In the fourth Towson cut the lead to three with an RBI single to center from Powers. The Tigers would add a run in the fifth and tie the game in the eighth. Towson strung together a couple of base hits, before Brad Powers collected his third RBI of the day on a double down the line in left.
In the bottom of the 10th, back-to-back singles by Semones and Novak put runners on the corners for the Dukes. Brady Harju was intentionally walked to set up a bases loaded situation for Matt Dipasupil. Dipasupil singled to right field to secure the sweep and get the Dukes back to .500 in conference play.
- The JMU pitching staff continued to rack up strikeouts on Sunday, collecting 11 more on the day and increasing the season total to 464.
- Kyle Novak and Fox Semones both collected three hit days this afternoon, as Semones added three runs and Novak added one.
- Nick Robertson improved to 4-1 on the season with the win Sunday. He pitched the final two innings of play and struck out four batters.
- The Dukes claimed sole possession of third place in the CAA standings improving to 9-9 in conference play.
- James Madison baseball secured their first winning season since 2011 with the victory on Sunday.

Top 5th | JMU 5 – TOWSON 3 | Jack Rotteveel would homer to right field in the fifth to cut the Dukes lead to just two.
Top 8th | JMU 5 – TOWSON 5 | In the eighth the Tigers would string together a couple of hits, including an RBI double from Brad Powers. Towson would push another across in the inning to tie the game and send it to extra innings.
Bottom 10th | JMU 6 – TOWSON 5 | In the bottom of the 10th, back-to-back singles by Fox Semones and Kyle Novak put runners on the corners for the Dukes. The Tigers would intentionally walk Brady Harju and set up a bases loaded situation for Matt Dipasupil. Dipasupil singled to right to walk-off and defeat Towson on Sunday.
The Dukes will play a midweek game against George Mason on Tuesday. JMU will travel to Fairfax for the second meeting between the programs this season. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
