RICHMOND, Va. (WHSV) -- History was within reach Saturday evening for the East Rockingham High School boys basketball team.

While the Eagles lost in the Class 2A state title game at the Siegel Center on VCU's campus in Richmond, it was still a historic season for East Rock.

"It's school history," head coach Carey Keyes said. "That's the bottom line. It's thousands of fans from Elkton, Mcgaheysville, Massanutten were here tonight."

This season, the Eagles won their first ever regional title and made their first ever appearance in the state tournament.

"I have been with these guys my whole life," senior forward Dalton Jefferson said. "Playing three sports all year and I spend more time with them than I do my family and they have become my family. I just love them to death."
