ELKTON, Va. -- The East Rockingham High School boys basketball team is preparing to play in the program's first-ever state championship game Saturday night.

The Eagles will meet Radford for the Class 2A state title at VCU's Siegel Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Radford boasts an undefeated record of 29-0 and present a major challenge to the Eagles who enter the championship game with a 26-3 record.

"I think that everyone thinks that we are a big-time underdog," said East Rockingham freshman forward Tyler Nickel. "A lot of people think the state championship was played when (Radford) played Gate City and they see us as irrelevant."

"That just gives us even more motivation to have people remember who East Rock is and where Elkton, Virginia is and they are going to know after Saturday."

East Rockingham advanced to the Class 2A state championship game with state tournament wins over Greensville County and Goochland.
