OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. – Redshirt senior Megan Good of James Madison softball was named to the Top 50 Watch List for the 2019 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, as announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, which is entering its 18th season, recognizes outstanding athletic achievement by Division I female collegiate softball players across the country.
Good will play her final season as a Duke after sitting out in 2018 due to a knee injury. The 2017 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Player of the Year appeared in all 60 games in her junior year, helping her team to a program-record 52 wins.
At the place in 2018, Good posted a .383 batting average in 180 at bats while tallying 69 hits, 12 home runs and 58 RBI. While working in the circle, she totaled a 0.63 ERA over 244 2/3 innings, racking up 271 strikeouts and 38 victories.
The Mount Sidney, Va. native was named a USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top Three Finalist and a member of the NFCA First Team All-American in 2017. After a stellar junior campaign, Good was the first student-athlete in conference history to earn the Colonial Athletic Association Player and Pitcher of the Year honors in the same season.
The Top 25 Finalists for the 2019 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award will be announced April 24. While an athlete does not have to be on the Watch List to be considered for the Top 25, the eventual USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will come from the Top 25 Finalists. The Top 10 Finalists will be announced May 8 and the Top 3 announced May 22. The 2019 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed May 28.
