HARRISONBURG, Va. -- After receiving an automatic bid following its Colonial Athletic Association Championship on Sunday afternoon, James Madison men’s soccer will face High Point in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 15 in High Point, N.C.
High Point (13-2-2) received an at-large bid after falling to Campbell in penalty kicks, 3-2, in the Big South Semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The winner of Thursday’s match will face the No. 5 North Carolina Tarheels (14-3-1) on Sunday, Nov. 18 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Kickoff time for Thursday’s match is yet to be determined.
The Dukes are making the program’s 13th NCAA appearance and the first under 2018 CAA Coach of the Year Paul Zazenski. Zazenski, who was named the head coach in early August, led his team to a 12-4-3 overall record, winning both the regular season and conference titles.
JMU won the sixth CAA title in program history yesterday, outlasting Hofstra in penalty kicks, 4-2, after a 1-1 draw at Sentara Park. Junior midfielder Manuel Ferriol was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, while redshirt sophomore TJ Bush, graduate student Yannick Franz and senior Thomas Shores joined him on the All-Tournament Team.
