HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The James Madison women's tennis team has advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

The Dukes earned a bid after winning the program's first Colonial Athletic Association title by defeating William & Mary, 4-2, on April 20 in the CAA Championship.

JMU is led by first-year head coach Shelley Jaudon who has helped the Dukes to a 14-8 record in 2019. On the court, senior Emma Petersen is a player to watch. She is the program's all-time leader in singles victories and overall wins.

JMU will travel to play Duke in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Competition is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Saturday.
