RICHMOND, Va. -- James Madison women’s basketball swept the weekly Colonial Athletic Association awards as Kamiah Smalls earned Player of the Week and Madison Green was tabbed the Rookie of the Week. Smalls picked up her second weekly award of the season, while Green earned her first.
In a 1-1 week for James Madison, Smalls led the Dukes in scoring in both games, averaging 20.0 points per game to go along with 6.0 rebounds. Smalls posted 22 points in the Dukes’ 68-55 win over visiting Dayton, knocking down 9-of-14 attempts from the field. The CAA Preseason Player of the Year added 18 points in JMU’s loss at No. 7/7 Maryland. Smalls has reached double figures in all eight games this season. The player of the week accolade is the second of the season for the Philadelphia native.
Making her first career start in James Madison’s win over Dayton, Green notched eight points and four assists in 28 minutes of action. On Saturday, Green recorded a career-high 17 points at No. 7/7 Maryland, going 3-of-4 from three-point range. On the week, Green went 4-of-5 from three-point range and handed out seven assists.
