WILMINGTON, N.C. -- UNCW’s Shrita Parker drained a three in the Seahawks final possession to give them a 66-63 victory over James Madison women’s basketball. This snapped the Dukes six-game win streak.

Parker hit her third three of the game to score her 20th point on the Seahawks (10-5, 3-1) final possession as the score was tied 63-63. The Dukes (12-4, 4-1) would have one more opportunity with 1.9 seconds on the clock, but were unable to come up with the tying basket giving UNCW its first win over JMU since Feb. 14, 2010. JMU led 51-42 heading into the final quarter, but the Seahawks were able to string together a 13-0 run to take a one-point lead. The two teams would battle it out for the final five minutes, but the Seahawks would keep their TD Arena unbeaten streak alive.

After leading by just four at halftime, 34-30, JMU jumped ahead for a 13-point lead early in the third quarter. While the two teams battled through the remainder of the frame, JMU would hold onto a 51-42 lead heading into the fourth. The Dukes halftime lead would mark just the second time this season giving up a halftime lead and falling in the contest.

The contest started off just as it would finish with both teams going back and forth with the lead. JMU hit all four field goals to close the first quarter and led 18-17, with Jackie Benitez hitting two-of-two from behind the arc in the quarter.
