HARRISONBURG, Va. -- James Madison cornerback Jimmy Moreland and punt returner D’Angelo Amos were both named STATS FCS First Team All-Americans, the organization announced Tuesday.

It’s the third All-America honor for each player this season. Moreland previously earned First Team accolades from both the Associated Press and the Walter Camp Foundation, while Amos was a AP Second Team member and a HERO Sports First Team Sophomore All-American.

The 2018 Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year, Moreland paced the league with five interceptions while leading the country with three interceptions for a touchdown. The First Team All-CAA selection is JMU's all-time leader with 18 career interceptions and has a CAA-record six pick-sixes. Moreland accrued a JMU single-season record 217 interception return yards and also ranked in the top 10 nationally with 15 passes defended. In 13 starts at corner, Moreland tallied 56 total tackles to go with 7.5 for loss, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one recovery, 10 pass breakups and a blocked punt.

Amos earned First Team All-CAA honors after leading the FCS with three punt returns for a touchdown and 22.0 yards per return. He's the lone Colonial Athletic Association player with more than one punt return for a score, as his three matched all other players combined across the league. Amos tied program records with two punt returns for a touchdown, 183 punt return yards and a long of 89 yards on his first score at Villanova, earning National Special Teams Player of the Week distinction. He also started every game at safety, accumulating 64 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, a half sack, two fumble recoveries and six breakups.

It's the third straight season JMU has produced two First Team All-Americans from STATS and the fourth straight year of at least two total honorees on the All-America Team.
