Payne named girls basketball head coach at R.E. Lee

STAUNTON, Va. -- Eric Payne has been named the head coach of the Robert E. Lee girls basketball program and will lead the Staunton Storm when the school's name change goes into effect for next season.

Payne is a native of the Shenandoah Valley who grew up near Waynesboro. He attended Wilson Memorial High School, Eastern Mennonite College, and James Madison University.

Payne has experience coaching both girls and women's basketball in the Valley. He was an assistant coach for the Eastern Mennonite University women's program and most recently at Fort Defiance High School for the girls basketball team.
