HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Spotswood and East Rockingham will meet Wednesday night in a matchup of two of the top high school boys basketball teams in the Shenandoah Valley.
The two teams have combined for a 28-3 record this season. Spotswood is currently ranked No. 2 in the TV3 Top 3 rankings while East Rockingham is No. 1.
"Often times we play this game early in the year and it has a vibe to it but now that we are playing later in the year as playoffs are approaching, I think it will be a good experience for both teams," said Spotswood head coach Chad Edwards
Spotswood is 14-2 Overall and 8-0 in the Valley District while East Rockingham is 14-1 Overall and 12-0 in the Shenandoah District.
Wednesday's matchup will not have an impact on the district standings but major bragging rights are on the line and a postseason atmosphere is expected in Elkton.
"I remember playing in similar games in high school and you look forward to those but at the end of the day it's another game," said East Rockingham head coach Carey Keyes. "It's going to be a special night, there's going to be a lot of people here and we just want to relax and have fun."
Tip-off is scheduled for around 7:30 p.m. at East Rockingham High School.
