PENN LAIRD, Va. -- The Spotswood High School girls basketball team is preparing for a rematch with Lord Botetourt in the Class 3A state semifinals Tuesday night.

The Trailblazers and Cavaliers met in the Class 3A Quarterfinals in 2017-2018 with Lord Botetourt knocking Spotswood out of the state tournament.

Spotswood has posted a 26-1 record in 2018-2019 while winning a Valley District title and Region 3C championship. Along the way, the Trailblazers have spent time preparing for a potential rematch with Lord Botetourt.

"We knew that on our side of the bracket Lord Botetourt was the best team coming back," said Spotswood head coach Chris Dodson. "So we had to work toward being ready for them."

"That's why we talked about Botetourt after game three when we got our first film of them. We started putting scouting reports together all the way back then."

Spotswood and Lord Botetourt will meet at Eastern Mennonite University Tuesday at 7 p.m.
