The James Madison softball program is coming off another strong performance during the 2018 season.

The Dukes finished the season with a 43-14 record, CAA Regular Season Championship, and a spot in the NCAA Tournament as part of the Knoxville Regional.

Leading the way was first-year head coach Loren LaPorte, who earned a four-year contract extension after the season ended.

"No better fit for the program than Loren," said JMU Director of Athletics Jeff Bourne. "I think all you have to do is look at the cards she was dealt right before the season started and what she was able to do with that group of young women."

The Dukes played the entire season without star player Megan Good, who was sidelined due to injury. Good was the Shutt Sports/NFCA Division I National Player of the Year for the 2017 season.
