WILMINGTON, N.C. (JMU Athletics) -- ames Madison baseball (31-24, 11-13 CAA) fell to UNCW (28-28, 12-12 CAA) 4-0 on Saturday in Mark Scalf's final home series. Michael Bechtold fell to 2-2 on the season after being removed in the third due to injury. The Dukes will now face off against William & Mary at 4 p.m.
UNCW opened up the scoring in the bottom of the second when Chris Thorburn singled through the right side to take a 1-0 lead. Greg Jones tripled down the line in right to score a pair of runs to increase the Seahawks lead to 3-0. JMU continued to put runners on base all afternoon, but found themselves hitting balls right at UNCW.
In the third Chris Thorburn reached first on a throwing error and the Seahawks added a fourth run. Dallas Jackson was able to collect his first colligate hit on a bunt single down the third base side. JMU clinched their first tournament berth in two years with the win on Thursday against UNCW.
- JMU is making their first appearance in the CAA tournament since 2016. The Dukes failed to make it the previous two seasons.
- The Dukes will square off against William & Mary in the second game of the CAA Tournament Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m., but will follow the conclusion of the UNCW and Northeastern game at noon.
- Dallas Jackson collected his first colligate hit in the top of the seventh when he bunted for a hit.

JMU will open up the CAA Tournament with the No. 3 seed William & Mary. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. from Veterans Memorial Park and will following the noon game against Northeastern and UNCW.
