WHSV To Air Year-End Sports Special Saturday Dec. 26
The WHSV Sports department will revisit some of its favorite stories that touched our lives, and warmed our hearts in the Valley in a half-hour special that airs Saturday on the Valley's Fox at 3:30 p.m.
Hosted by David DeGuzman and Andrew Clay, "WHSV Sports Presents" looks back at some of the individuals who showed how sports can be about much more than wins and losses.
From a 10-year-old race car driver who raised money to fight cancer, to a baseball player turned musician, the show will reflect on the emotional journeys some of the area's athletes made.
Among the stories that will be featured:
- Mini's Mission
- Overcoming Streiff
- Hornet's Hope
- Jon Fried 15-Love
- Ryan's Song
The half hour special ends with a montage of memorable moments from the past year in sports.
In addition, WHSV Sports will rebroadcast two stories leading up to Saturday's show on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
On December 24, Andrew Clay looks back at "Learning To Win", which profiles Spotswood's Valley Unified Basketball team in the historic inaugural year of the league. Then on Christmas Day, David DeGuzman re-introduces us to Amanda Williams, an EMU soccer player battling multiple sclerosis.
"WHSV Sports Presents" will also be available in its entirety online following the show's airing, with links to the individual featured stories, where viewers can re-watch the piece as it originally aired.
