Teen to be Tried as Adult for Stabbing

A Portsmouth judge has ruled that a 17-year-old high school student will be tried as an adult on charges of fatally stabbing a 16-year-old acquaintance.

Robert Lee Barnes, a Churchland High School junior, is charged with first-degree murder and burglary in the April 10 slaying of Meghan Landowski. The two had been acquaintances when Landowski previously attended Churchland.

Juvenile and Domestic Relations Judge Alotha Wills made the ruling Wednesday, granting the prosecution's request to try Barnes as an adult.
