Officials in Staunton have completed work to prevent vandalism at a historic building.
For months, workers from the Frontier Culture Museum have been cleaning up the vacant Dejarnette building off of Route 250.
They removed heavy shrubbery and debris, covered graffiti, and boarded up every entrance to the building.
Museum officials say the project was a necessity, after numerous break-ins throughout the years.
John Avoli, from the Frontier Culture Museum, says, "It looks a lot better, number one. Number two, we hope it adds a certain amount of safety so that people are not going in and out of it."
Because of statewide budget cuts, the money to renovate or destroy the building isn't available.
