Better Business Bureau Warns of Tree Removal Scammers

By  |

Some folks have cleanup following today's severe weather.

The Better Business Bureau says this is the time when folks need to be careful when it comes to hiring companies to remove trees from their property. The bureau along with other reputable companies say there are some red flags to look if you are approached by anyone looking to remove trees or help you clean up.

Look to make sure the company has a Virginia license to operate in the state. Also never pay all of the money up front and always asking for a written estimate. Also be weary if all they will accept is cash. And if the price is very low and too good to be true, it probably is.

The Better Business Bureau says another telling sign is if you are approached by a company. Most of the time you will need to call the company, so if someone knocks on your door offering a service, a red flag should go up.
