HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- This year you have a chance to get involved in Toy Convoy.
The Salvation Army, Leroy Wilkerson, the owner of Mountain Valley Burger Kings and with WHSV are teaming up to get kids toys who need them.
Last year, Toy Convoy collected more than 1,000 toys for the Valley.
In Staunton, Maj. Mary Kay Hearne said they will be helping more than 400 children. They need toys for girls ages nine and older.
Other areas have a major need for all kinds of toys as well.
You can now bring new toys to the barrels at all Mountain Valley Burger Kings in Staunton, Waynesboro and Harrisonburg.
Without Toy Convoy, Hearne said they would have a hard time providing for every child, "It's amazing how they come in. You think that you're not going to have enough, but the generosity of the community is just beautiful and that spirit of giving and it allows us to make Christmas for children in our communities."
Waynesboro needs to help more than 450 kids and Harrisonburg has more than 1,700 kids in need.
Those toys will be distributed to the area where they are donated, so they help families locally.
