STUARTS DRAFT, Va - It was a crazy night for people who live in Stuarts Draft after a home invasion has left many here on the edge.
"Absolutely shocked, just couldn't believe that it happened here," said one neighbor.
"I couldn't believe it."
Dawn Kestner has been living in the area for years and says the neighborhood is usually quiet.
"This is a really good neighborhood, and things like that just don't happen here," Kestner said.
Deputies responded to a home on Crestview Avenue around 9 p.m.
They say a slender, white man entered one of the homes wearing a ski mask and showed a handgun. The man ordered the people inside to give him money. He took some of the homeowner's personal items and ran away. The homeowner then ran to a neighbors house where she called authorities.
"I did not even sleep comfortable."
Neighbor Jessica McConnell says she knows the people who live in the house and saw the situation when deputies arrived.
"I stopped right there, it kind of scared be there for a little bit, I didn't even know what to think, I've never seen even like officers on this street," McConnell said.
As another night falls in Stuarts draft, the people here say, they plan to look twice and make sure their doors are locked.
"I feel like I have to look around now."
