Should colleges prohibit guns on campus?
That has been the debate for quite some time in Virginia, but now the attorney general is weighing in.
Ken Cuccinelli wrote an opinion saying people with concealed carry permits are not subject to the policy at UVA.
That policy prohibits people from bringing guns into school facilities without permission.
James Madison University spokesperson Don Egle, says school administrators could soon consider possible changes to their current campus gun laws.
"The university will review the attorney general's opinion and look at how that may or may not impact the universities existing policy. Once we take a look at that, then we'll take an assessment as to whether or not there's any appropriate action we need to take with our policy," said Egle, spokesperson for JMU.
Egle says it is unclear when a review process would begin.
