Harrisonburg -- A dog accused of killing a cat and causing damage to a vehicle in Grottoes in early January will remain locked up, at least for a few more days.
A Rockingham County judge ruled during a brief hearing Wednesday that he wasn't satisfied that the dog's owner, James Shifflett, could keep the dog contained at his home in Grottoes.
However, the judge scheduled another hearing for Feb. 2. On that day, the judge will hear more evidence about the case.
Rocky, a pit bull, is currently being held at the Harrisonburg SPCA.
Shifflett is charged with two civil violations for possessing a dangerous dog.
He also faces charges of letting a dog run loose. He's scheduled in court on March 13 for that case.
