Virginia State Trooper Involved in Luray Crash

LURAY, Va. (WHSV) -- UPDATE 7:05 p.m. --

Virginia State Police say a trooper was traveling on Route 211 with lights and sirens on. VSP says a 1965 Buick pulled out from Wallace Ave. to cross Route 211. The two vehicles collided in the highway.

Both the driver of the Buick, Thomas R. Ramey, 64, of Luray and his wife, Barbara K. Ramey, 64, of Luray, died at the scene.

The trooper, M.R. Leeds, 25, was treated for minor injuries at Page Memorial Hospital.

A Virginia State Trooper was involved in a crash in Luray on Monday afternoon.

The crash happened on U.S. Route 211 on Monday afternoon.

Both eastbound lanes are currently closed, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

State police are not releasing the condition of those involved in the crash but our reporter on the scene is reporting that rescue crews are attempting to remove a victim from the wreckage.

It is now under investigation.
