ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WHSV)-- This plane crash occurred in Northern Rockingham County; killing one man, and had airlifting another, to the hospital.

Nolan Dean lives in the area, and was one of the first people to locate the plane which killed 49-year-old Bernhard Charlemagne, and had 51-year-old John Hicks airlifted to the hospital. The two men were on a cross-country instructional flight, coming from Frederick, Md.

Dean says locating the crash was a terrifying venture.

"The closer I got... when I finally got within a half mile from it...I could see the tale sticking vertically up," said Dean.

The National Transportation Safety Board hopes to have their preliminary report finished in the next five to 10 days.
