nTelos Announces Nearly 50 Layoffs in Waynesboro

Waynesboro -- nTelos announced Thursday that nearly 10 percent of its Waynesboro workforce has been laid off.

Mike Minnis, director of public relations for the wireless phone provider, said that 48 positions have been eliminated.

He said 454 employees remain in the Waynesboro area.

Minnis said the move was made as part of a decision in December to pull out of the Richmond and Hampton Roads area and concentrate more on the western part of Virginia and parts of West Virginia.
