“For drivers, I think looking further down the road and scanning left to right to see if there is any kind of movement or any kind of reflecting eyes off to the side of the roadway. Very important thing to be able to see them from a good distance it will give you a chance to stop,” said Dean.
”I am trying to run a business, I have employees, I have a family, I have a daughter that I am trying to support and so to have the uneasiness that a business could be attacked like this whether it was a deliberate act or a random act of violence is really disheartening to me,” said Knicely.
Longtime Rockingham County District 4 Supervisor Bill Kyger is in his final two months in office. Kyger is not seeking reelection and will retire at the end of the year when his term ends, he is the board’s longest-serving member having first been elected in 1988.

Students at Central High School got a hands-on lesson about the dangers of distracted driving on Tuesday. Drive Smart Virginia provided a driving simulator for students to see the difficulty of driving distracted first-hand.
Childcare centers in the Valley and across the country are beginning to feel the effects of the ending of federal childcare subsidies. Since the pandemic millions of dollars in American Can Rescue Plan funds have gone to help stabilize childcare centers across the country but those funds ran out on Saturday.

A former Page County Sheriff’s Deputy was arrested Friday in Rockingham County for the possession of child pornography. According to Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson, 40-year-old Shadarryl Veney turned himself in after an investigation that lasted over a month.
