Several hundred kids spent Saturday afternoon at Eastern Mennonite University for "Children First Day."
The kids enjoyed all kinds of activities like building, playing with silly putty, learning about the human body, playing sports with local college athletes, and enjoying some free food and giveaways.
Parents say it's a great family activity, especially with the great weather Saturday.
"It's just nice to see all of the families out and give them something to do, but at the same time find the vendors and things that offer activities for the kids so they can have things to do in their free time," says Broadway resident Chris Smith.
WHSV is one of the sponsors of the event.
Wal-Mart also had several workers there, volunteering their time, and the store made a large donation to the cause.
