UPDATE: Movie Theater Shooting Suspect Identified

Nashville Police say the shooting suspect is identified as 29-year-old Vincente David Montano.

He had an airsoft pistol with him that looks like a real gun along with an ax.

Don Aaron, a spokesman for Metro Nashville police, said Wednesday that one person may have suffered a hatchet wound. He did not have further details.

Aaron says an officer came into the theater and was fired upon by the suspect. The officer shot back, then backed off. After that, a SWAT team came in, and there was another exchange of gunfire. The suspect was then found dead.

The suspect had two backpacks, which are being checked by authorities.

Police say the theater shooting suspect was armed with a hatchet and gun before being shot by officer.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The fire department says police are responding to a report of shots fired at suburban Nashville movie theater.

Police report the active shooter is dead. The shots were fired at the Hickory 8 Theater.
