ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- Authorities say they've found the body of worker a day after he went missing at a northern Virginia quarry when a silo collapsed.
Loudoun County Fire and Rescue officials said Tuesday that rescuers worked through the night at the Luck Stone Leesburg Quarry in Ashburn searching for the 18-year-old man last seen working near the silo on Monday morning.
Officials say the worker was found early Tuesday under large amounts of stone dust and metal equipment, but he had succumbed to his injuries.
Dozens of rescuers, including members of Fairfax County's Urban Search and Rescue team, responded after the silo partially collapsed Monday morning, spilling stone dust. Their search efforts were suspended for several hours Monday out of concern over the structural integrity of the damaged silo.
