STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) -- Formal charges have now come down against a suspect involved with the car chase that happened on Friday
Jovon Keys, 23, faces 10 charges after law enforcement says Keys led them on a high-speed chase, including some for having a gun and drugs in the car, as well as two counts of assault and battery.
Keys faces one count of proceeding after receiving a signal to stop, one count of possessing a transport firearms by a convicted felon, one count of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of marijuana,
The chase started at the Parkersburg Turnpike and Pine Tree Road intersection in Staunton before it ended on Hewitt Road in Augusta County, according to law enforcement.
Sheriff's deputies said Keys was pulled over on the Parkersburg Turnpike before he took off while the officer was checking his license.
A chase ended up happening and Keys hit a police car at shopping center before it all came to an end.
Witnesses who saw the chase say it was a scary one.
"I was nervous that somebody was going to get hurt. I was concerned about the people in the parking lot, the customers," said Kelli Huffer, who saw the chase.
Keys is being held at Middle River Regional Jail without bond.
