Harrisonburg Police Say Home Invasion and Shooting are Related

Harrisonburg, Va. (WHSV) --
We are now learning that a shooting and a home invasion we first told you about on Thursday are related. Harrisonburg police say Alex Brown is a suspect of a break-in at a Hunters Road apartment. Police also responded to a shooting on Lois Lane. The two incidents occurred half a mile apart from each other.

Police also believe that Brown was responsible for the shooting where he unintentionally shot himself. Many neighbors feel concerned for their safety, but Philip Jackson, who lives nearby, says you should put this incident in perspective.

"We live in a relatively safe community compared to how most people today or in history have ever lived and I think when something bad happens, it kinda shocks us and draws us out of that," said Jackson.

We checked with Harrisonburg Police for any information on a possible second suspect. At this time, we haven't heard back.

Police are asking for your help with the investigation. You can call the Criminal Investigations Division at 540-437-2640. If you prefer to stay anonymous you can call CrimeSolvers at 540-547-5050. You can also text "HPD" plus the tip to (274637).
