Woman Identified In Waynesboro Fatal Crash

WAYNESBORO, Va. -- The Waynesboro Police Department released the identity of the victim in Wednesday afternoon's fatal car accident.

Officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Lyndhurst Road at about 4:13 p.m. and arrived to find a 2005 Chevrolet four-door had hit a tree .

Margaret Elizabeth Legg, 87, of Waynesboro, was in the vehicle, unresponsive, and subsequently died at the scene despite efforts of rescue personnel.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling north on Lyndhurst Rd. when it left the road for unknown reason, traveled up an embankment, and finally collided with the tree, according to police.

Legg was the only person in the Chevrolet.
