A facility that employs more than 90 people in Page County may be closing in the near future.
Virginia State Sen. Mark Obenshain issued a statement on Thursday about the pending closure of the Genie Facility.
The facility is operated by the The Genie Company, which is a subsidiary of Overhead Door Corporation.
It is located in the town of Shenandoah.
"I was saddened to learn of the pending closure of the Genie Company facility in the Town of Shenandoah, and of the ninety-two jobs that will be lost in Page County,” said Obenshain.
“This is difficult news for a County already hit hard by the recession and underscores the need for focused economic development activities. My heart goes out to those who are being laid off, and I will renew my efforts to work with members of both parties to lay the groundwork for economic growth and bringing much-needed jobs back to Page County and across Virginia."
