A head-on-collision Saturday in Staunton sent one person to the hospital and put a 19-year-old woman behind bars.
Staunton Police say Sydney Smith, 19, crashed head on into a car on Route 262, sending that driver to the emergency room.
According to police, Smith continued down the road a short distance before crashing again.
The second crash involved only Smith's vehicle and caused the suburban to be engulfed in fire.
Smith ran from that scene but later turned herself into police.
"She was charged with driving after having her license revoked for DUI related and then felony hit and run that had personal injury with it because the driver of the other vehicle was injured," explained Staunton Police Officer Lisa Klein.
Smith was not charged with D.U.I. but police say they do believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
