HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- The final stage of Toy Convoy is coming up for the Harrisonburg Salvation Army as all the toys have been packed up and are ready for distribution.
The Harrisonburg Salvation Army is providing toys for almost 2,000 kids in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.
Last year, the Salvation Army had to buy toys in order to meet the need, but this year, the gift-giving season ended on a happier note.
"We were short. We were going to have to buy toy,s but with the last day that TV3 did and the community coming out to support TV3 and us and caring about the children of our community. They came through and we did a great job. Thanks," said Capt. Duane Burleigh, "This community is awesome. That's the best word that I can use to describe it. They care about their fellow man and the community. They care about the children of this community. They care about the other families in this community who might be hurting and struggling. they are always willing to come up and help out."
Distribution day for Harrisonburg is all day tomorrow starting at 9 a.m.
The Staunton Salvation Army has already held their distribution day, and Waynesboro is holding theirs today and tomorrow.
