Tractor Trailer Fire Causes Interstate Delays

SHENANDOAH COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) -- UPDATE 9:22 p.m.: Virginia State Police say there are no reported injuries from the tractor trailer fire.

Sergeant Les Tyler said the fire was cleared and all lanes were open at 4:45 p.m. There is no word on what caused the fire.

A tractor trailer fire on I-81 caused delays Saturday afternoon. The fire started around 1 p.m. about two miles north of exit 264.

Virginia State Police tell WHSV they had to direct traffic to take the Route 11 detour. People on the interstate dealt with delays of up to six miles. People dealt with delays for hours, despite the detour.

State police did not release how the fire happened or if there are any injuries. We are working to learn more.
